Volunteering
Get the most out of your backyard!
Here are vital steps you can take as a volunteer to shape the future of your forest:

Volunteer role
Become a Visitor Information Volunteer
Would you like to help people with planning their visit to the White River National Forest? Would you like to share your insights on local happenings? Join our team of courteous representatives and enjoy welcoming the visiting public to our beautiful community. As a Visitor Information Volunteer you will interact with the guests sharing your exceptional knowledge of trails, camping, responsible recreation, and fun things to do in town. Visitor Information Volunteers assist visitors at District Offices. We ask for a one-day per week commitment especially throughout the summer-fall season.

Volunteer role
Become a Wilderness Ranger
As a Volunteer Wilderness Ranger, you play a crucial role in the White River National Forest. You will be the officially uniformed USDA Forest Service representative interacting with trail users. Volunteer Wilderness Rangers are friendly and informative, educating trail users on wilderness ethics and regulations. Often times you will be asked to identify wildlife, plants, and geography of the area. If you can't wait to put on hiking or riding boots, are in good physical shape, and love working outdoors, join us as a Volunteer Wilderness Ranger.
